When it comes to your life, you shouldn’t trust anyone. It’s up to you to keep yourself alive. Terror threats are on the rise and those attacks will occur on one place or another so you need to have a solid plan in place to keep yourself and the ones you love safe.
1. Monitor Social Media
Social media is a great way to stay in touch with old friends, network with future employers or find inspiration for daily life. However, terrorists are very smart when it comes to finding potential targets through social media.
It has been discovered by US Department of Defense (DoD) that terrorists are hiring “crawlers” to search social media sites like Facebook to locate potential targets that post too much personal information. It is IMPERATIVE that personal information such as address, phone number, place of work etc. be removed from social media accounts.
Posting information that is personal or that can lead to locating an individual creates an easy target for a potential terror threat or attack.
2. Monitor the News
If you are not watching the news daily or researching the current political climate around you, you are doing yourself a disservice. As the DoD receives intelligence information on potential terror attacks or trends, it is in their best interest to post that information to the public and it is in your best interest to take that information on-board.
