Personal Trainer Certification: 6 Steps to Make a Living in the Gym

3. Get a Job

Once you are certified, you will need to get a job as a personal trainer. You can scout your local gyms for personal training opportunities along with higher end fitness clubs. You can expect to earn more money if you join the more elite fitness clubs that require higher monthly membership fees.

4. Build Your Portfolio

As you start training people, you will develop and hone your skill sets. As you gain more experience, you will gain more confidence. Before you know it, you will have several trainees under you, all with different body types, goals and needs. This will make you well rounded.

Now you have the portfolio to get out there and market yourself. Ask your clients for testimonials and “before and after” pictures. You can post your portfolio along with a professional picture on a personal website (highly recommended).
